Anchor Rode: The Material used to connect the anchor to the boat

• Nylon rope or chain
• 1/8" for every 9 feet of boat length determines rope diameter
• Chain size equals 1/2 line diameter
• Shackle one size larger than chain size
Rode Length: The rode length is determined by the scope which is the length of the line or chain in relationship to the depth of the water. Under normal conditions the scope should be 3:1 ( example: depth being 10 ft and the anchor line would be 50 ft). If anchoring in rising tide conditions she scope should be 5:1, and 7:1 under adverse conditions.
